If you’ve ever worked on a historic home, you probably know the challenge: keeping the original character while also making the space livable by today’s standards—especially when it comes to materials like brick.
Thin brick tiles are molded from actual old bricks, so they still have that weathered surface, soft edges, and natural color variation. You can apply them to walls, floors, fireplaces, etc.—without having to support a heavy brick wall with structural changes.
At first, one might assume "thin" means fragile, but these tiles are surprisingly durable. The fired clay tiles used were rated for both indoor and outdoor installations and showed no cracking or chipping during installation, even when used on floors. Additionally, they perform well in freeze-thaw climates.
They install more like tile—thinset, grout, done. No need to hire a mason or deal with the weight of full bricks. I was able to do a small entryway and part of a fireplace wall on my own over a weekend.
If you're trying to preserve the feel of an old house, thin brick tiles are a solid option. You get the same visual effect, but with more flexibility and better compatibility with modern materials.
