Our story might sound familiar to you. We knew that we wanted brick in our home. We wanted it for its warmth, for its timelessness, for its place in history. Our renovated home, an historic woolen mill, however, neither had support under its sub-floor to hold up the weight of full-sized brick, nor the space to lower the floor and accommodate brick's height. Instead, we searched for a brick veneer, one with the durability of full-sized brick and with an authentic, historic look. After years of fruitless searching, we finally decided to design the veneer we wanted ourselves. And, so we began making brick tiles in our foyer, hand-pounding stoneware clay into plaster molds of antique bricks. The resulting brick tile was at once beautiful, convincingly authentic and ruggedly strong. Our commitment to handmade and historic, yet timeless, building materials continues today with each tile we create.

Each brick tile is unique and handcrafted. With the help of veterans from the Veteran's Administration Work Restoration program, we make every tile by hand using antiqued molds and pressing natural materials, like wood ash, onto the tiles. The tiles then dry on racks and fire to over 2250 degrees Fahrenheit in one of our kilns to create a vitrified, durable product.

Simple Installation
The resulting brick tiles are thin (1/2") and much lighter than full-sized brick, allowing you to avoid costly changes to load-bearing strength or level of the sub-floor for flooring or footers to support the weight of brick for your walls.

Durability
Inglenook brick tiles are designed from terracotta-colored stoneware ceramic clay, making the tiles strong and their color steadfast. Successfully tested by the Tile Council of America for strength and resistance to freeze-thaw cycles, Inglenook brick tiles will stand the test of time in your home or outside it, leaving your touch for decades to come.

Authenticity
Most importantly, our hand-formed brick tiles are indistinguishable from antique brick.
Our customers laugh about the comments of their friends and family,

"What a great brick floor!" they exclaim.

"Thanks," our customers reply, "It's actually tile," and smile at the reactions they receive.

As one customer describes, Inglenook brick tile "at 20 feet and at 2 feet...is the real stuff by sight and touch." Our antiqued molds, use of natural clays and powders, and handmade manufacturing process means that every tile looks as though it were formed by hand and fired in a wood furnace, just as bricks were made for centuries.

We needed a brick veneer that would both endure the test of time and convince that it was full-sized brick ---the same as your home deserves. We pledge to bring our handmade, durable tiles to your home with the same attention to quality and authenticity that we had for our own home.
