When Julie and Emily began Inglenook Tile, their vision was to create more than just your basic stoneware tiles. They wanted to sell tiles with a personal touch-- little details to make customer's tiles unique. One of the ways Inglenook Tile customers choose to make the tiles their own is by sending leaves, seeds, and other bits of natural matter from their backyards or special places to Inglenook Tile. These plant pieces are then pressed into the wet clay tiles before they are fired. During the firing process, the leaves and seeds burn off, leaving their impression permanently imbedded in the tiles.
Some Inglenook Tile customers have also requested the names of their children, grandchildren, homes or other special sentiments ("faith", "love", anniversaries) stamped into a few of their tiles. Customers have commented how fun it is for children to search out the names and special tiles in the floor ("ooo, look! I found a "love"!). The antique child's stamping set that we use also has a variety of animal stampers--cat, dog, horse, goat and others. Have them pressed into some of your brick tiles.
"Stamped with Love" features the footprints of your favorite pet pressed into a brick tile or tumbled stone tile. The idea is the work of our kitten, Wabi Sabi, who stepped in some grout as we were laying our floors. After noticing his "signature," we decided to push some clay into the impression and use it as a stamp in a few of our bricks. We loved the effect so much, we knew we needed to offer it in our line. For your pet's foot impression, we will send you a casting kit that you press their paw into and then return to us. We will use the casting to make a stamp and "sign" your tiles. For larger tiles, such as the 4x8" or 6x6" sizes, the hand print of a special child in your life is also possible.
